After rigorous screening and professional review at various levels, the Shandong Provincial Health Commission has officially issued a document, announcing the innovative inclusion of two hydrogen-oxygen medical technologies—“Application of Hydrogen-Oxygen Inhalation in Improving Sleep-Disordered Breathing” and “Clinical Application of Hydrogen-Oxygen Nebulized Inhalation in the Perioperative Period of Elderly Total Hip Arthroplasty”—into the "2023 handong Province Appropriate Health Technology Promotion Project". Only 80 projects were approved across the province this time, with the field of hydrogen-oxygen medicine securing two spots, highlighting its significance and importance.
It is worth noting that this is not the first appearance of hydrogen-oxygen medicine in such projects. As early as December 2022, the "hydrogen-oxygen mixed gas inhalation for pain relief" technology was successfully included in the "Notice of the Shandong Provincial Health Commission on the Fourteenth Batch of Appropriate Health Technology Promotion Projects".
Research on "hydrogen-oxygen analgesia" shows that the unique advantage of hydrogen molecules lies in their ability to easily penetrate cells and effectively eliminate inflammation, thereby achieving rapid pain relief. Elderly patients with hip fractures face significant perioperative nursing challenges due to decreased physiological reserves across various systems, multiple comorbidities, and the presence of various geriatric syndromes. Optimizing the perioperative care pathway for elderly patients with hip fractures, reducing complications, lowering mortality rates, and improving the health outcomes of elderly patients with hip fractures has become a key focus and a hot topic in current studies. Current studies have confirmed that the mechanism by which hydrogen molecules eliminate inflammation is very clear. Therefore, based on previous studies and clinical observations, it is found to have significant clinical significance in this field.
Furthermore, the new hydrogen-oxygen inhalation diagnosis and treatment technology has opened a new pathway for improving sleep-disordered breathing.
